Termsof use
Plain terms for a site that sells nothing. Free software, no warranty, and you need your own copy of the game.

1. Who you are dealing with
This site is run by an independent developer trading as wh1ter0se, working as a sole trader. The contact address is wh1ter0seliveson@protonmail.com, and it is read by one person.
I do not publish my legal name or a postal address here. The work includes offensive security, and that is a deliberate decision about personal safety. For paid engagements a client receives full identity and invoicing details under the engagement agreement, before any money moves.
2. Using this site
You may read it, link to it, and download what is offered. Do not attempt to break it, overload it, or use it to distribute anything of your own. It is a static site with no user content, so there is not much here to misuse.
3. The software
GeneralsX is a cross-platform build of the Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour engine. It is not the game. It ships no EA game data and does not modify an installation you already have; it installs beside it.
The engine is free software under the GNU General Public Licence version 3. The launcher is free to use but is closed source and is not covered by that licence. What each component is, and the state of its source, is set out on Licences & source — including where that position is currently incomplete.
4. You need your own copy of the game
GeneralsX reads the game’s data files from a copy of Zero Hour that you own. Nothing on this site provides, replaces or circumvents a licence for the game itself. If you do not own Zero Hour, GeneralsX will not give you a playable game.
Where a page describes obtaining your own data files from a service you already have an account with, that is on the basis that you already hold a licence for the game. Your use of that service remains governed by that service’s own terms.
5. Unsigned builds
The downloads are not code-signed or notarised, because a certificate costs money this project does not take. Your operating system will warn you and, on macOS, block the first launch. Published checksums let you verify that the file you received is the file that was built. Running unsigned software is your decision. If you would rather not, that is a reasonable position and you should not run it.
6. No warranty
The software is provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. This is not boilerplate bolted on: it is the position set out in sections 15 and 16 of the GNU GPL version 3, under which the engine is licensed, and it applies to the launcher too.
The entire risk as to the quality and performance of the software is with you. Nothing on this site is a promise that it will work on your machine, that it will keep working, or that any particular build will remain available.
7. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, I am not liable for any loss or damage arising from using, or being unable to use, this site or the software — including lost data, lost saves, lost time, or any indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
8. Payments and refunds
Nothing on this site is for sale. There is no price, no checkout, no payment method, no subscription and no account. The software is free.
Because there is no sale, there is no refund policy, and there is nothing to refund. If you are ever asked to pay for GeneralsX by anyone, anywhere, it is not me and it is not authorised.
This is separate from paid consulting work, which is agreed directly by email and governed by whatever engagement terms we sign for it — not by this page.
9. Support
There is no support commitment, no service level and no uptime guarantee. This is one person’s project. I read the email address above and answer what I reasonably can, usually within a couple of working days. Builds, downloads and this site may change or disappear without notice.
10. Trademarks and attribution
Command & Conquer, Generals and Zero Hour are trademarks of Electronic Arts Inc. This project is an independent, modified community build. EA has not endorsed and does not support this product. It is not affiliated with or sponsored by Electronic Arts.
Those names are used here only to describe what this software is compatible with, which is the one thing that cannot be said any other way.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the country in which I am resident. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, nothing here removes protections you have under the mandatory law of the country you live in.
12. Changes
These terms may change. The date at the top of this page says when they last did. Continuing to use the site or the software after a change means the current version applies.
